This class is the one that TETAC was formed from. We have reps from John Deere, Toro, Jacobsen on site and we will be discussing day-to-day issues on all types of golf course equipment. This is an open forum and is always a favorite at the TETAC conference.
Day Two
Tuesday
Course Name: New-Tech University
Instructor: Eric Duncanson – Pine Needles/Mid Pines Golf Club
This class is aimed at providing new techs and seasoned veterans insight into professionalism within our industry as well as a review of the basic skills that are expected from equipment managers and technicians.
Course Name: Tines & Bedknives
Instructor: Jim Merritt, President/CEO, JRM, Inc.
This class outlines aerification from 1967 to present day. Includes evolution of aerification tines and bedknives, and the quest that golfers have placed on superintendents for faster greens.
Course Name: 4-Stroke Engines – History & Theory
Instructor: Rex Floyd, Service Manager, North Ridge Country Club
This class covers history of all types of engines and will provide a 1913 open fly-wheel Whitt engine with all internals exposed and running. Discussion forum will include types of oil, carburation, injection systems and external combustion engines, as well as steam engine theories.
Course Name: Lubrication & Predictive/Preventative Maintenance
Instructor: Alan Sine, Swepco Industries
This class is designed to reduce your maintenance cost, labor and parts inventory and increase equipment life. It will address engine, hydraulic, gear, transdraulic, and transmission oils, as well as fuel conditioners and grease. Use of laboratory oil analysis as an integral part of money-savings operation.

Course Name: What’s Bugging Me??
Instructor: Greg Womble, John Deere
This class should be a lot of fun! Greg is going to set up electrical bugs in turf equipment and you will be challenged to find the bugs. Let’s be competitive in this class.
Class begins with a basic electrical discussion and concludes with the “bugs”.
Course Name: Hydraulic Testing & Troubleshooting
Instructor: Bill Ledford, TriState Pumps
Freddie Proctor, TriState Pumps
This class provides an overview on pumps and hydrostats and will progress into flow testing of equipment. Participants will test hydraulic flow on turf equipment. Schematics, cutaways of hydrostats, and motors will be discussed.
Course Name: Sprayers
Instructor: Burke Anders, STI
This class covers all aspects of sprayer problems including solenoids, motor valves, pumps, controls, and calibration. Emphasis on rebuilding Toro Diaphragm Pumps.
Course Name: Reel Grinding & Set Up
Instructor: Mark Pilger, CEO, SIP Grinders
This class presents the practical and theoretical concepts of reel and bedknife grinding. Includes the history of reel grinders and the impact on current designs. Various functions of reel and bedknife grinders and how the different designs accomplish those functions will be presented. Misconceptions of reel grinding will be covered.
