Join over 200 turf equipment managers, mechanical gurus, experts, and students November 12-14, 2007 in Myrtle Beach, SC for TETAC 2007. This year's conference will include 10 seminars (and one field trip!) that go deep into the technology behind the everyday business of running the golf course maintenance shop and maintaining the equipment therein. TETAC 2007 will include:
  • Golf Outing at Quail Creek Golf Club
  • Day to Day Operations at a Multi-Course/High End Facility:
    What goes on at a 36+ hole course each day? How does everything get done? Tips on scheduling, administration, record keeping long-range planning and developing a detailed maintenance program.
  • Bio-Hydraulic Fluids: Learn more about BASF's "Grass-friendly Plurasafe® EnBio TC®S hydraulic fluid featured at 2007 Golf Industry Show". This new, high performance, biodegradable and environmentally friendly hydraulic fluid is formulated to eliminate turf grass damage.
  • Advanced Electrical and Hydraulics: Seminar will include advanced topics on maintenance and testing of batteries, diagnosing cranking problems, and preventative maintenance of the hydraulic system.
  • Cutting Units: Common and rare problems encountered in reel mower cutting units will be discussed. Topics will include: Parallel, attitude, height of cut, tournament setup and seasonal issues.
  • Tour of ESAB Welding & Cutting Equipment Factory in Florence, SC (ALL DAY): Factory tour and demonstration of and hands-on trail of various welding models plus safety tips to include exploding oxygen tank demonstration.
  • Certification Prep (Drivelines/Hydraulics/Hydrostats): Whether to become certified or not, this informative class will cover everything you need to know - basic knowledge in several areas, including technical skills, fundamental theory, failure analysis, trouble shooting and general repair.
    Optional Testing for Official OPESA/EETC Certification will be available on campus that afternoon - please allow 2 hours for test.
  • Professionalism: Back by popular demand, Jim Roach of EETC will cover the importance of certification and how becoming certified can help you to advance in your career.
  • Industry Leader Discussion Panel: Experts from each equipment distributor will be on hand to answer questions and discuss issues.
  • Small Engines and Safety: Seminar will explain how engines operate, demonstrate safe work practices when servicing engines, discuss engine air intake, exhaust, cooling, and lubricating systems, describe operating principles, functions, and maintenance of systems, discuss troubleshooting and failure analysis techniques and how to handle maintenance procedures, describe the operation, servicing, and maintenance procedures.
  • Computers as a Tool: Today's shop software options for making maintenance management duties easier.
  • Spanish for Technicians: Lean Spanish phrases frequently used in the industry for conversing with your Spanish speaking technicians.

January 2007 TETAC Seminars
Information is in the mail to TETAC members about the annual January TETAC seminars. The seminars will be held January 23rd at the North Raleigh Hilton in conjunction with the North Carolina Turfgrass Conference & Show. The Turfgrass Council of North Carolina has invited TETAC Seminar participants to visit the Turfgrass Show free of charge.

Seminars being offered this year are:
9am-12pm: Diesel Engine Maint. (brought to you by Engine Power Source)
Comprehensive info on preventative maintenance, covering problems inclusive to diesel engines, diagnostic and repair problems and info on alternative fuel.

1-4pm: Hydraulics: A to Z (brought to you by Jacobsen)
Common issues related to hydraulic systems, information on filtration and best management practices. Diagnositc and repair issues will also be addressed.

2006 TETAC Conference

TETAC is excited to offer educational opportunities at the 2006 TETAC Conference. Open to ALL technicians, you will be able to attend these Seminars for all 3 days without ever repeating a class. An AWESOME line up of presenters is scheduled this year and we know you’ll leave Horry-Georgetown with a new sense of knowledge and passion for your profession!

November 14th though the 17th technicians from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and even Alabama converged on Myrtle Beach for our 3rd annual educational seminar series. Representative from Jacobsen Textron, John Deere, Toro, as well as National Welders, Express Duel and Foley. And it is with gratitude that TETAC would like to thank all our presenters for their time and talent in helping to make our fourth year our must successful yet.
At our annual meeting once again Ben Pinkney awarded a scholarship on behalf of TETAC to a Horry Georgetown student, Ben Trent, a 2nd year student at the school.

Outgoing president Dale Rogers was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his service to the organization. Thanks again Dale for all you did this past year as well as your years of service on the board. The much awaited Turf Tech of the year was presented by Mike Craft incoming president to Butch Trogda. Butch was given a plaque as well as a check for $500. Butch was nominated by Vance Wicker a local distribute whose letter of recommendation stated how Butch’s professionalism and integrity had impressed him immensely. Congratulations once again Butch.

Other items discussed at our annual meeting were the continued success and growth of TETAC for an organization of our relatively young age to have the success we have had is a tribute to ALL, including our members who are the ones driving this association to those willing to devote time and talent to serve on our board or committees. The biggest debt of gratitude we have is to the Carolinas Golf Course Association, Turfgrass Council of North Carolina and all our vendors who have not only supported us but in too many ways to mention helped facilitate the success of our fledgling organization. And as 2006 is just around the corner bigger and better thing are on the horizon.
